Mu Alpha strives to recruit those who will become confident leaders and dedicated members of the chapter.  Pledging Mu Alpha Chapter is a six to seven week experience full of opportunities for service, fellowship, and leadership development. 

During the pledge period, students pursuing membership in Mu Alpha are expected to complete all requirements for membership.  These requirements help familiarize each aspiring member with the history and traditions of the fraternity and chapter and to introduce the intensive committment to leadership and service inherent to Mu Alpha Chapter.  These pledging requirements include:

1. Mandatory attendance at values-based meetings held each Thursday evening of the pledge period.
2. Completion of a pre-determined number of service projects and service hours.
3. Completion of a pre-determined number of individual and/or small group meals/visits with undergraduate and alumni initiates.
4. Attendance at other ceremonies and special events as announced.

There is absolutely no hazing in the Mu Alpha pledge program and strict standards are enforced to ensure that the pledging process maintains the spirit of Alpha Phi Omega.  Pledging Alpha Phi Omega at Georgetown University is a unique, fun, rewarding, and worthwhile experience for all who participate.

Mu Alpha's pledge program received national recognition as a 2008 Pledge Program of Excellence - Diamond Level.
